What having a growth mindset means at Genio
Here, we take a look at one of Genio's core values - having a growth mindset. We take a look at what Genio offers to help employees personal development, and what some of the team say.

What does ‘Growth is a mindset’ mean at Genio?
‘We believe that greatness as an organisation is achieved through our individual attitudes and our collective ability to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.’
Employees at Genio are given the tools and resources required to shape their career progression and use their initiative on how they can get there. Support is provided and processes are in place, but trusting your team to understand their skillset, grow in areas they are interested in and find development opportunities that excite them is part of the individual's plan and goals.

Professional development at Genio
Each Genio team member is entitled to an annual professional development budget and they can be used for courses, networking, materials, mentorship and much more. We like individuals to think about their areas for growth and work with their manager to utilise these budgets to suit them best.
Our Marketing team are pioneers at utilising their professional development offering, hear from Anja and Aneesha.
Anja (Event & Community Lead): “I completed a course in Advance Event Design & Strategy. I wanted to plug a couple of knowledge gaps and look more deeply at how my role can support our revenue goals. The course really boosted my confidence around forecasting and stakeholder management and I think that's been evident in the adjustments I've made to how I plan for 2025 and how I bring stakeholders on the journey of each project.
I was freelancing before I joined Genio and found it difficult to make space for learning. Being part of a company that truly invests in employee growth and development allows me to have some control over how I drive my career progression, making me feel more energised by my work and the possibilities that lie ahead.”
Aneesha (Senior Marketing Executive): “Earlier this year, I completed an Account-Based Marketing (ABM) course with The Chartered Institute of Marketing. ABM is something that I've been interested in for quite some time, and although I've had a brief introduction to ABM in the past, I wanted to take a course where I could really focus on certain aspects and apply key learnings to my role.
The course delivered exactly what I needed - practical insights into aligning sales and marketing teams with the buyer's journey, along with clear guidance on setting measurable KPIs. Since completing the course, I've been able to implement a more structured ABM framework in my role, which has already improved how we target and engage with our key accounts.”
Professional coaching
We also have John Buzzard, Director at Leadership Vision, who is available to book for 1:1 coaching sessions as well as group sessions with our people managers. He covers a range of topics from self-awareness, life coaching, career development, project challenges and leadership ability. 140 hours have been booked with John so far this year across the business! (October 2024)
Knowledge sharing
Whether it's hearing and learning from others internally or sourcing external experts, we have a range of Breakfast/Lunch & Learns as well as team specific workshops happening across the business.
We’ve held talks on topics such as Unmasking Autism, Nutrition, Giving & Receiving Feedback, International Women’s Day, Navigating Work-Life Balance and much more! Whilst we are not experts on everything, we try to utilise the talent and knowledge we have internally to create open discussions across a range of topics.
Hear from the Genio team
‘Growth is a Mindset’ Rising Star, Alys Winter (Employee Experience Manager) added a new feature to her home office this year!
“We had a great day of company celebrations yesterday, and I was over the moon to be named as rising star for our 'Growth is a Mindset' award 🏆 Being part of Genio's journey for the past (almost!) 11 months has given me so many opportunities to learn and grow, countless transformational projects to contribute to, and most importantly lots of incredible people to work with. Finding an environment where it’s not too alarming to people that I often like to run before I can walk, and have an innate drive to ‘get things done’ feels truly wonderful.”
