How an Aerospace Engineering student takes notes in a practical class
Meet Sindhu, an Aerospace Engineering student at Georgia Tech. She shares how Genio Notes can be used in a practical class and how it's helped her during intense study periods.
Can note taking software really make a difference in a hands on engineering class? Sindhu, discovered the answer is... yes!
She's a Graduate Research Assistant, in the Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory at Georgia Tech, while simultaneously studying for her Masters in Aerospace Engineering.
Sindhu has used Genio Notes in ways that go beyond traditional note taking, using it to manage complex concepts, diagrams and systems.
Read on to find out how Genio Notes helped to transform her approach to practical learning.
How can engineering students use Genio Notes?
"Being an aerospace engineering student is simultaneously one of the most amazing and most stressful careers to pursue. We have the opportunity to learn about complex systems that come together to create an aircraft or spacecraft, and how each of these systems behave under different conditions.
This requires the ability to pay attention to little details, and being human, I often miss those while listening to a three hour lecture, such as aircraft design.
Genio Notes' ability to record and transcribe every detail mentioned in the lecture allows me to fully focus on the professor.
Additionally, I use the notes section to jot down important points like definitions of the different kinds of engine cycles, that may not be mentioned in the slides. This provides additional context and supplements the information on screen.
Adding photos and drawing diagrams using Scribble (like the various wing geometries and their angles) helps me correlate concepts more effectively."
How does Genio Notes help students prepare for engineering exams?
"We are all too familiar with the dread that accompanies preparing for an engineering exam. When it comes to aircraft design, there are a lot of different topics, and it can feel overwhelming to tackle all at once.
Figuring out what might appear on the test and preparing for it can be incredibly stressful. To help me combat that stress, I replay the lectures and read the transcript on Genio Notes.
Hearing the audio helps me recall and retain various concepts from the lecture, including particularly difficult ones like thermodynamics and propulsion.
I am also able to refer back to the notes, photos and diagrams that I created. This helps me visualize the concept which I find particularly useful and greatly appreciate this aspect Genio Notes.
So the next time you find yourself struggling to make it through an engineering lecture or study for an upcoming exam, consider using Genio Notes to assist you!"
