Genio (formerly Glean) Student Ambassadors: Neil
Meet Neil, one of our first Genio Student Ambassadors. Here he shares more about his learning journey and how he uses Genio Notes in higher education.
At Glean, we've learned that despite the countless valuable resources available to college students, effectively acquiring the skills needed for better learning and developing successful independent learning habits can be challenging.
That's why we've launched our Student Ambassador Program.
Genio's Student Ambassador Program is not just about individual success. It's about creating a community of students who help surface useful resources, ensure developing new study habits is interesting, and make navigating academic goals an empowering experience.
Today, we want to introduce you to Neil, one of the founding members in our Student Ambassador Program...
Hey everyone!
I’m Neil, a first year common law student, pursuing my Juris Doctor (JD) degree. I found out about Genio Notes in my undergraduate degree, during my fourth and final year.
I was having a conversation with an advisor, regarding note taking and they suggested that I utilize Genio Notes.

I used Genio Notes throughout my fourth year, and actually had my best academic year.
Genio Notes is an app that allows me to stay organized and have all relevant information in one place. I can record my lectures, import my slides, and add notes - all in one app.
It not only keeps me organized, but keeps me on track with notes, as I can take notes of what’s being said, rather than re-typing what’s on the slide show.
Additionally, I can access the recordings and add notes that I may miss. I also find that re-listening to my lectures like they are a podcast has been a great study tool!
My favourite feature is the “post slide” function when recording, it allows me to keep up with the class, as what the professor is saying attaches to each respective slide.
I chose to be an ambassador for Genio because it really helped me figure out strong and healthy study habits, and it prioritizes accessibility.
Just as it helped me figure out how to study productively, I hope it can do something similar for you too!
